How to Help

What is Friedreich's ataxia?

Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) is a genetic, progressive neuromuscular disease. People with FA experience issues with balance and coordination of movement that leads to life-altering loss of mobility.

Other common symptoms can include fatigue, serious heart conditions, scoliosis, and diabetes. FA is life-shortening and affects an estimated 5,000 individuals in the United States and 15,000 worldwide.

Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance
FARA’s goal is to treat and cure Friedreich’s ataxia.

The FA Community is an active and supportive one. Together, we fund and facilitate research to slow, stop, reverse, and cure Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). We hope there is comfort in knowing you are not alone. Together We Will Cure FA.

Because FARA focuses its funding solely on carefully vetted research, your support directly impacts our ability to advance research toward meaningful treatments and cures for Friedreich’s ataxia. Donations can be made online.

To donate via ACH without incurring additional processing fees, contact info@curefa.org or (484) 879 6160.
